Christian faith is based on Jesus Christ. He is the way that God has revealed Himself to us.
By His death on the cross He has bridged the gap that exists between a Holy God, and a sinful people. This means that we can now be in relationship with God – in fact the Bible says that we become His children
Jesus’ claim to be God, and the effectiveness of His death on the cross in bringing us to God, was proven by the fact that He was raised from the dead and appeared to many before He returned to God in heaven.
However Jesus not only came back to life 2000 years ago, but remains a living Saviour and Lord. A Christian is a person who has the life of Jesus within them (which is eternal life). This life brings us the comfort and strength of God to help us live, and because Jesus is eternally alive, it means we will live beyond death.
So how do you invite Jesus to live within your life?
You could pray this prayer:
“Jesus, I realize that I am not in relationship with you. I would like to become your child, and to be forgiven my sin and receive eternal life. I ask you to come into my life, so that forgiveness and eternal life will be mine. I repent of my wrongdoing, and ask your Holy Spirit to help me live a life doing what You want me to do.”
If you prayed that prayer, and meant it, your life has begun the most significant change it will ever make. You are now a child of God.
We suggest you attend an Alpha course at this, or another church, to further explain the change that is now happening in your life.
