Dear Families!

Wow! How this year is speeding by! We have already started the second half of the school year and we all know what that means: crazy times ahead!

In our Children’s Ministries we are looking forward to GOOD CRAZY!

There are loads of “good crazy” planned for Sunday mornings, special events and activities for families. We are looking forward to ENGAGE with our children and their families through all of these. But most importantly, we are looking forward to continue supporting you as parents and grandparents, as you ENGAGE with your children in your efforts to lay their spiritual foundations and shape their faith in Jesus Christ!

252Basics
This is the program we are currently using in JC’s Kids. The name comes from the scripture Luke 2:52 – look it up!

It is designed by the reThink Group, and is based on exploring virtues in Biblical context, in four week cycles. The first virtue we explored was “Faith”.

We are starting with “Forgiveness”.

We have been handing out “Refrigerator Door” cards on a weekly basis. These are meant to help you further explore the lesson of the week and make it relevant in your lives as a family. They are easy to use and understand. Please clip them to your fridge with the magnetic peg we provided, so you can’t miss it!

The kids are also taking home “God Cards”, which are meant to be used in their personal devotional time. It is linked to the weekly lesson and will help them to further think about and explore what they have learned at church.

We want to encourage you to make the most of these useful support tools. They can really help you in your efforts to form firm foundations of faith in Christ, in your children and family. We are looking forward to receiving your feedback on these tools and how they have supported you.

For more information on 252Basics, see the review that I wrote on our website.

JC’s Explorers

The children in JC’s Explorers also take home age-appropriate “support tools” on a weekly basis. These are simple, yet highly effective in supporting parents at home, to further explore the lessons and messages your children hear on a Sunday at JC’s Explorers. Please let us know how this is going. We love to get feedback and input from our parents!

AKTIF Services
These are our “Adults Kids Teens In Fellowship” Services. These services are aimed to do just that – get our whole church FAMILY to connect in one fellowship opportunity, to be ACTIVE TOGETHER, as we learn and explore in an  inter-ACTIVE way!

There are always lots of laughter and fun and something for everyone to hear and enjoy and learn. Please make an effort to come together and really make the most of these wonderful opportunities to fellowship with your children and other families.

Look out for the date of our next AKTIF Service!  SEE YOU THERE!

Formula 3
Our outreach event for Year 5 and 6 kids has been a great success once again this year. We hosted “Easter Extravaganza” in April and “Refugee Ruckus” in May (to co-inside with World Vision 40 Hour Famine - all proceeds that evening was added to the contribution from our Youth).

Mum’s Nite Out!
We had a very successful “Mum’s Nite Out” for Mother’s Day this year. We had mums from Mainly Music, our Children’s Ark Kindergarten, and our Children’s Ministries come together to be pampered and spoiled. Thank you to all the people involved in organizing this wonderful event, and for the donations and lovely sponsored gifts that spoiled all our mums!

JC’s Jammers
We now have our own live worship band in JC’s Kids! JC’s Jammers have been leading worship once a month in JC’s Kids, since May this year. The group is lead by Russell Gregory-Allen and consists of a group of young people in our church: Chris Halkyard, Farryn Newman, Sara Huszak, Louis du Toit, Reggie Gregory-Allen and Vijay Ravi. They have done a great job so far and we are thrilled to have them. See them in ACTION at our AKTIF Services! Go JC’s Jammers!!

E-mail Communication
Seeing that we are living in the 21st Century with loads of technological advancement at our fingertips, I would love to be able to communicate with all the parents of our kids on a regular basis, via e-mail.

The plan is to send out our newsletter, information, updates, support tools and resources that will be of value to you as parents and grandparents. I am not planning to overload your Inboxes with unnecessary “stuff” – time is an issue for all of us!

If you are willing to let me communicate with you in this way, please contact me at the church office.

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon!

If you would like to discuss any matters with me, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Serving you and your family, in Jesus
