Thursday 23rd July meeting
God answered prayer for the Lydia programme...despite predicted rain and in response to our prayers,
the evening was dry until after it was all over.
Approx. 165 women crowded the church auditorium and the atmosphere was excellent..happy and bubbly with so many women talking together!
Paul Hames's presentation of Feet and connected aspects was gentle and interesting; detailed but informative to all women there. We learnt much, digested a lot of facts and many women went home afterwards to act on their extended knowledge.
Les Coffman followed with a masterful rendering of old-time favourites with his musical instrument of spoons! This drew huge applause.
Cherry Simmonds, international best-seller author, told her life story of growing up in Merseyside, England and their move to New Zealand as a young wife and mother. Told with both pathos and humour, she had her audience spellbound. She had found a relationship God after accepting Jesus as her Saviour and her life changed to become meaningful and fulfilling.
for Women
About Lydia
ACTS 16:13-14 (NIV)
On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshipper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message.
Our Aim
To see every woman in New Zealand come to know and love God through Jesus.
Why
To help women realise that they are unique and special, and that they matter to God.
How
By providing an appealing, non-threatening evening where women feel welcome and relaxed in an atmosphere of fun and friends who care. The program includes an interest feature, supper, gifts, and a Christian woman telling her own personal story. Lydia meetings are always run free of charge to guests; we believe this is one of the key factors that have led it to be so blessed by God.
